Benefits will automatically reduce by 50% on the policy anniversary following the insured person’s attainment of age 70, or after five years from the effective date, whichever provides the longer period of coverage.
Double Payout in Common Carrier Accidents
If you are injured or killed in an accident while riding as a fare paying passenger on a bus, train, airplane, ferry, taxi, or other type of common carrier, you are entitled to double the face amount of your AD&D Insurance policy.

Living Benefits of AD&D Life Insurance
Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance provides compensation “living benefits” for injuries suffered
Living benefits can be provided for injuries including:
- Paralysis
- Loss of arm
- Loss of hand
- Loss of leg or foot
- Blindness
If you lose one limb, you would qualify for 50% of your policy face amount. If two or more limbs are lost, you would qualify for 100% of your policy face amount. Also, the amount paid to you as living benefits is not deducted from your policy’s face amount, which remains in full effect to cover future injuries.
What does AD&D Insurance Policy Cover?
Just as its name implies, an accidental death and dismemberment insurance policy covers death or injuries which are proven to be direct results of a covered accident.
An AD&D policy also covers dismemberment (partial or total loss of a hand, arm, or other body part) as well as paralysis and the loss of sight, speech, or hearing. Generally a death must occur within a few months of the accident in order to fall under the policy.

AD&D Policy Details
An Accidental Death insurance policy is a limited benefit policy. Certain exclusions and limitations apply. Benefits will automatically reduce by 50% on the policy anniversary following the insured person’s attainment of age 70, or after five years from the effective date, whichever provides the longer period of coverage.
The policy is guaranteed renewable for life. This means that you may continue the coverage for life by paying premiums when they are due. Premiums may be changed, but only on a class basis, not based on your individual claim history.
Guarantees are backed by the claims-paying ability of the issuing insurance company.

Common Carrier
Common carrier means a taxi, school bus, streetcar, bus, train, ship, ferry, or airplane which is duly licensed by the proper authority for the sole purpose of transporting public passengers for a fee.
The maximum benefit for policyholders between ages 70 and 80 is $250,000.
The common carrier benefit means if we pay any benefit as a result of an accidental injury that occurs while the policyholder is riding as a fare-paying passenger inside a common carrier, we will pay an additional benefit equal to any benefit paid as an accidental death benefit or a dismemberment benefit or a paralysis benefit.
